Medical disclaimer
What this website is, what it is not, and why the difference matters. Last updated 14 September 2026.
In one paragraph
Everything on this website is general information about psychological difficulties and about the services the Psychological Help Centre provides. It is not a diagnosis. It is not treatment. It is not advice about you, or about your child, or about anybody else you are worried about. Reading it does not create a clinician–client relationship. Only a qualified clinician who has assessed a person can say what is going on with that person — a website cannot, and this one does not try to.
Why our pages are written the way they are
You may have noticed that our condition pages describe how a difficulty commonly shows up and then stop short of letting you check yourself against it. There are no symptom checklists on this site, no "five signs you have…", no quizzes and nothing to score. That is deliberate.
Self-diagnosis from a web page is unreliable in both directions, and both directions do harm. People convince themselves they have something they do not have, and then carry a label that shapes how they see themselves for years. Others read a list, do not match it neatly, and conclude they have no reason to ask for help — when the reason they did not match the list is that lists are not how clinical judgement works.
So our pages describe rather than test, and they say, every time, that recognising yourself in a paragraph is not the same as knowing what is going on.
What we do not claim
We do not promise outcomes. You will not find a success rate, a recovery rate, a percentage, a timeline or a guarantee anywhere on this site, and if you ever do, it is an error and we would like to know about it. Psychological work is not a product with a stated yield. What we can describe is our process — how we assess, which approaches our clinicians are trained in, and how the work is structured — and that is what our pages describe.
We do not say which clinician is best for you. Our psychologists' profiles state their qualifications, the areas their own supplied biographies name, and their supervised clinical hours wherever those biographies give a figure. They do not rank them, and they do not claim that any individual is effective for any particular difficulty.
We do not give medical advice, and we do not prescribe. PHC's clinicians are clinical psychologists, not psychiatrists. Nothing on this site should be used to start, stop or change any medication. If you are taking something and you have a question about it, that question is for the doctor who prescribed it.
Do not delay getting help because of something you read here
This is the part that matters most.
If something on this site suggests to you that your difficulty is mild, common or not worth troubling anybody about, please do not treat that as a reason to wait. A general description cannot see you. People routinely underestimate what they are carrying, and the people around them often do too.
Equally, if a page here alarms you, that is not a diagnosis either. It is a reason to ask somebody qualified.
If you or somebody else is in immediate danger, this website is not the right place and nothing here should be used instead of urgent help — here is what to do. PHC is an appointment-only practice, our channels are not monitored around the clock, and we are not a crisis service.
Our articles
Articles in our blog are written for a general readership and reviewed by a PHC clinician before publication. Each carries the name of the person who reviewed it and the date they did. That date matters: clinical understanding moves, and an article reviewed three years ago has not been checked since. If you are reading something old, treat the date as part of the information.
Review does not make an article advice about you. It means a qualified person has checked that it is accurate and fair in general terms.
Links to other organisations
Where we link to another organisation — a professional body, a publisher, a booking platform — we do not control what is on the other end and we are not responsible for it. A link is not an endorsement of everything that organisation says or does.
What to do instead of relying on this site
Ask somebody qualified. That can be us, and it does not have to be.
If you are not sure whether PHC is the right service for what you are dealing with, contact us and ask rather than working it out from these pages. We will tell you directly whether we can help, and refer you elsewhere if we cannot. That answer costs you nothing and it is a reasonable use of our time.
If you would rather understand what an appointment involves before making one, what happens in a first session sets it out in full.
The formal position
This disclaimer forms part of our terms and conditions and should be read alongside them and alongside our privacy policy.
To the extent permitted by law, the Psychological Help Centre accepts no liability for any action taken, or not taken, on the basis of the general information published on this website.
Speaking to someone starts here
PHC is appointment-only. Message or call and a real person answers — Monday to Saturday, 10am to 8pm PKT.
Not sure whether this is us? Contact us anyway. We will tell you directly whether we can help, and refer you elsewhere if we cannot.
Six details, and we can match you
- Name of the person who will attend
- Their age
- What is going on, in your own words
- Whether you would prefer a male or female psychologist
- Online, or in clinic in Karachi
- Whether the person attending is a minor or elderly
If someone else is paying, we will also ask for guardian or payer details. A slot is held once the booking payment is received — half the fee, at least 24 hours ahead.
